Many immigrants from Africa and Haiti have a sudden loss of memory when they reach the United States. They forget about the flies and the squalor that they have just come out of only a few days before. They feel themselves to be smarter, wiser, and more knowledgeable than other people and want to talk down and look down on them. Speaking to them is like attempting to communicate with a dead piece of wood because they think themselves too intelligent to hear what you have to say.

They forget where they came from. Where the leading occupation is to hurt and kill one another and beg the white nations to come and feed, clothe, and water their women and children. The Pacific Rim nations, India, and many other nations are up and running while the nations of Africa south of the Sahara and the island of Haiti are at a dead still socially and economically. The nation of South Africa is not any exception because the power and the moving forces in that country are still in white hands, and if this ceases to be the case, there is little to no doubt that South Africa will soon be in turmoil like the overwhelming majority of its neighbors are.
Self-evaluation is a productive and beneficial thing to do if done honestly. The scale should not be gauged on how you feel yourself to be better than someone else, or by looking at some fault in someone else as the maker to measure yourself from. That someone else should be taken completely out of the equation and your scale should be the honest facts about you. That is if you sincerely are looking for self-improvements and a realistic view of the world.
Just because you are now wearing clean clothes and no longer have to hunt and eat rats to survive is no excuse for you to go over the edge and look down on others. Instead of a false pride one moving up from foulness and filth should be filled with humility and thanksgiving. Instead of looking down on others, one that is just coming from an environment of senseless slaughter, waste, and degradation should shut their, want to be, know it all mouth, and really learn something.
It is a sad state of affairs to witness how the hope and promise that immediately followed the end of the European colonial era have collapsed into utter rubbish where fertile lands are littered with the maimed and corpses and the women and children are anguished and depressed as the so-called men do everything possible the tear one another down instead of building themselves and the nations up. And then, when a means to escape feces comes, African and Haitian refugees reach the United States and garb themselves with a flowing robe that someone else has given them to replace their tattered rags and now fancy themselves to be at the top of the food chain.
Don't forget where you came from. Take the tree from your eyes so that you may be able to see clearly before attempting to remove a splinter from someone else's finger. And if you feel that you are much too good for the people and the surroundings that you are now in you are more than free to go back where you came from. Who has given you the right to judge? And who has appointed you the standard-bearer that everyone else should adhere to? How wise and intellectual you were when tsetse-flies were biting you and mad dogs came into your village and raped your women and tortured you.
Don't forget where you came from. Be wiser than you notion yourself to be in your self-asserted cleverness and shrewdness. Turn your heads and eyes upwards and relinquish that looking down on others, which is a major reason why Africa is in so much turmoil today because everyone feels themselves to be better and smarter than everyone else, but showing themselves to be the least intelligent of all people inhabiting the Planet Earth. Wake up and smell the odor of your filthy rags that cannot be eliminated by a simple change of clothes. It is the mind that must be cleansed and given a new and better home.
